Needs come first
We do not start from what is easiest to fund. We start from what people living through war, disaster and crisis actually need, such as food and water, shelter, healthcare and education, and we shape our projects around those needs.
From relief to lasting change
Wijdan began as a small initiative delivering basic aid, above all food and clothing for families in difficulty. Over time the work widened to education, health and building people's capacity, through schooling and training courses that help people out of poverty rather than only through it. Partnerships with local and international organisations then widened the reach of our projects and the resources behind them.
Looking ahead
The next stage is about economic empowerment: development projects that reduce the need for direct aid, so that the people we support become people who produce. Among the goals we have set ourselves:
- Empowering 1,000 producing families.
- Sponsoring 10,000 orphans.
